Like a lot of other people, I watched a lot of videos on Instagram and TikTok in 2023 that were about the Tineco vacuum mop. I didn’t believe it. Hundreds of important people couldn’t really love a hard floor cleaner that much, could they? But when I saw it on Amazon for a great price in July 2023, I gave in and bought it.
This post is an honest review of our Tineco Floor ONE S5 pair, which we’ve had for more than 7 months. This was my own money, and I haven’t talked to Tineco about it. It isn’t paid for, and I wasn’t given anything. Does it really live up to the hype? Find out what’s next…
Because there are so many of them, it can be hard to tell which ones are really worth the hype. A few of them even get shared a lot on social media. I hadn’t even told my social media followers about it until today. Why? Before I used it for a while, I didn’t want to “influence” anyone. After seven months of use, I can now compare the Tineco to other floor cleaners I’ve had. Now I’m going to tell you what I really think about the Tineco Floor ONE S5.
We used the Hoover hard floor cleaner for over ten years.
Since more than ten years ago, we’ve used a mop vacuum. Now let me talk about the Tineco. I have never liked cleaning floors with a bucket and brush. We tried one of the new mops that keeps dirt and water apart. As much as I’d like to mop, it’s not good enough.
My husband and I got our first Hoover FloorMate Hard Floor Cleaner in 2003 or 2004. At the time, it cost us a lot because we were newlyweds and fresh out of college. This magic machine sprayed your floors with cleaner, scrubbed them clean, and then sucked up the dirty, wet water. We loved it.
The first Hoover FloorMate Hard Floor Cleaner worked great for many years until the squeegee broke. We got a new Hoover Floormate in 2019. The new machine worked better than the old one. It got rid of both wet and dry trash. It wasn’t important to us that it was hard to clean every time. We liked them a lot.
The squeegee stopped working again after about 4 years, and we couldn’t find an easy-to-find replacement part. This is about the time when Tineco floor cleaners first became well-known. I thought, “It can’t be as good as the Hoover Floormate” every time I saw a famous video praising the Tineco. Then I saw it on Amazon in July 2023 for a great price and got it. What do I say? I think something changed me.
Why I chose the Tineco Floor ONE S5 Combo Model
It’s hard for me to choose which Tineco hard floor cleaner to use because there are so many kinds. A lot of different prices are out there too.
Edges and corners should be cleaned better.
Because of how the brush head is made, you can reach corners and other hard-to-reach spots.
It turns into a hand vacuum.
With extra parts, you can turn it into a hand-held cleaner that you can use to clean your car, the stairs, and other places.
Automatic Cleaning Without Hands
The inner tube and brush roller are flushed immediately by the hands-free, self-cleaning feature. The dirty water tank has a pet hair strainer, which is very important to us because we have a big, hairy dog.
Not too loud or too heavy
It’s easy to move and handle since it weighs less than 9 pounds and has wheels that can turn and move on their own. For some reason, some people have called it “ultra-quiet,” but I don’t agree. But it’s pretty quiet for how well it cleans. That’s not very loud for sure.
What I thought at first about the Tineco Vacuum Mop
There was something that needed to be “assembled” when I first took it out of the box, and it looked hard as I took everything apart. It really didn’t take long—only 10 minutes. The machine wasn’t something I was sure about yet, so I kept the box and left the tags on it.
I quickly read the steps and turned it on. I was ready to be let down. You can guess how shocked I was when I was really impressed. Right away, I loved these things:
Moving around is easy because the wheels move on their own. It’s easy for me to do with one hand.
It’s great to know that swivel steering can help you turn and go around tight curves. It works great to spin and turn.
Our old Hoover cleaner left a lot more water on the floors than this one did. This meant that they dried faster and didn’t leave any spots. A LOT of air was pulled in.
It quickly cleaned up clear spots of gunk on the floor.
The part that cleans itself was a lot better than I thought it would be. The Tineco could “self-clean,” but the old Hoover Floormate couldn’t do it nearly as well or for as long.
- It really does clean the floors and kitchen drawers all the way to the edges.
- I was also very happily shocked. I still haven’t thrown away the box or taken the tag off.
- It was important to me that it kept making me feel good, haha.
- Here’s how I feel about our Tineco after using it for more than 7 months.
- It’s been over 7 months, and I love it even more, if that’s possible. The tags don’t work. There is no longer a box there.
- It cleans well and doesn’t leave marks.
Overall, I’m very pleased with our Tineco Floor One S5 package. It’s very easy to use, and our floors are really clean after using it. Also, I love that it doesn’t leave a lot of water on the ground. They dry quickly and don’t leave marks. These always make me sick because they get so much dirt off of our wooden floors. It’s really easy to keep the house clean with dogs around.
However, it’s not the same as a plain vacuum cleaner.
The Tineco S5 combo vacuum mop can get rid of both wet and dry dirt. It’s easy for this machine to clean up breakfast crumbs and milk that got on the floor. I don’t think our Tineco S5 can be used instead of a cleaner, though. As a matter of fact, our old Hoover Floormate wasn’t a vacuum either.
“It cleans and vacuums your floor at the same time!” some might say. That’s not what I think. It can pick up both wet and dry trash at the same time, which is great for fixing things that went wrong. But before I use this machine to clean the whole area of my floors, I always use our plug-in vacuum cleaner to get rid of dog hair and other things.
It’s GREAT that it cleans itself.
It cleans itself, which is one of my favorite functions. It really does work. You still need to empty the dirty water tank when it’s done. I don’t want to put it in any sinks because it gets dirty on the floors. That’s why I flush it.
Because our big dog sheds a lot, I have to clean out the pet sink every time I use it. Thus, you need to do some work following the machine use, but not a lot. Our Hoover hard floor cleaner “self-cleaned,” but we still had to do a lot more work.
The charging station stores it and charges it.
I really like the dock. It charges your floor cleaner and has a place to keep extra roller brushes and other parts. To put it another way, the charging port needs to be connected. It’s handy that our washing room has a good spot to plug it in and put it away.
It’s always ready to go because the charger and docking station work together. Plus, it’s simple to get when I need it. The battery life has been fine for some reason. I read that it works for 30 minutes, but we’ve never had to use ours that long before it needed to be charged again.
What’s good and bad about the Tineco Floor One S5 Combo Vacuum Mop
- It really pulls water up and doesn’t leave much on the ground.
- The mess is cleaned up both wet and dry at the same time.
- How “dirty” your floor is is checked for you by the surface.
- It’s very easy to move around because the wheels move themselves and the handle can be turned around.
- The feature that cleans itself is great.
- The floors dry quickly and don’t get spots.
- It’s simple to use, and there’s no cord.
- The docking station lets you charge your phone right there.
Cons
- It was expensive—even the sale price I paid for it was tough to swallow.
- It’s not as good as a vacuum at getting rid of dry dirt and dog hair.
- I’ve heard that it doesn’t work well with big or sticky messes, but I haven’t tried them myself.
- Some people don’t like how long the battery lasts.
- Put the charging stand close to an outlet because it needs to be plugged in.
Finally,
I really love this machine, to cut a long story short. It’s strange how much it cleans off of floors that look clean. There is a treat that is worth the price if you can spare the cash.
